M and I tried out a new church yesterday called neighborhood. We mainly went to see Paul lead worship, which was a-ma-zing, but also wanted to see if that church was a better fit for us as a couple than crossroads is. We heard pastor Tyler Scott, and his word was awesome. He spoke of finding true happiness within rather than trying to obtain it by buying things or looking a certain way. Here are his 4 truths about happiness:
1. it's possible
2. it's an inside out process
3. it's a by-product- we are living for something bigger than ourselves
4. it's a choice
What most hit home however, were his words about "taking delight" in your loved ones. He talks a lot about marriage and relationships which really speaks to us obviously. Try not to get caught up in "things" take time to delight in your lover, get to know them, walk with them, listen to them, learn about them. Pull yourself away from anything that takes time away from your lover and instead focus on them with your full attention. To sum it up, take delight in your husband or wife out of love, not duty.
Psalm 37:4- Delight yourself in the lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

The message definitely hit us hard. Instead of doing something nice for you, expecting to get something in return. I now strive to delight in you and do nice things because it makes you happy and to enjoy the beautiful smile it puts on your face.
